Dahal Thungri dance

Another form of dances sprung from the Kherai worship are Chatrowali and Khofri sibnai also called as Dahal Thungri Sibnai dance. These dances like the rest are also full of deep philosophical and religious significance. They are performed by the Doudini to propitiate the god and goddesses.

Chatrowali dance is the demonstration of the different mudras or movement of the Goddess of War, Rwnchwndri. A sword is held in one hand and a shield in the other by the Doudini and moves dancing around the altar of Bathou. .

Sword and shield is also used in Khofri sibnai dance. Khofri sibnai is a kind of sword and shield wielding dance. This is performed in the name of Rajputhur deity, son of Bathou Maharaja. In some books it is mentioned to be for Aileng deity, bodyguard of Bathou Bwrai, who is worshiped for safety against the attack of enemy. Unlike the Chatrowali dance which is performed for the success in the battle, this dance is to give lessons on self-defense.
